Leeward/Windward Islands

The Leeward and Windward Islands are the two groups islands that encompass what is better known as the “Lesser Antilles.”  The Leeward islands on the north start with the Virgin Islands and end with Dominica.  There are approximately 16 main islands plus tens of many islets.  South of Dominica is Martinique, the northernmost island in the Windward islands.  Comprised of 7 main islands, the Windwards include the Grenadines and on its southern edge the island of Trinidad.  The trade winds are still the prevailing winds and the area is a true sailor’s paradise.
