US Virgin Islands

The most popular sailing destination for U.S. citizens is the U.S. Virgin Islands. One of the reasons this destination has become more favored among U.S. travelers is that no passport is required! After September 11, 2001 world travel has changed and a lot of safety requirements have been put into place for travel. One change that took effect January 2008 is the implementation of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative whereas every U.S. traveler traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, or the Caribbean is required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States. The U.S. Virgin Islands are exempt from this new requirement.
